For the semester several cultural and social activities as well as trips and events are organized to stay in touch with each other and have a lot of fun. Some are on the fly joinable, others require registration beforehand.
Party
First of all, on Monday nights there will be International Student Night at Fire Palace. Every once in a while we organize special theme parties in Doozo.
Other activities
Our actual activities depend on the time of year, amount of students and participation of the groups, but here are some activities we’ve done in earlier semesters:
Introduction Week
During the introduction week we will help you getting the keys to your room, we will show you the town and the school and we will help you on your way with the intranet and the schedules at Stenden. Besides that, we have organized some activities to get to know each other and make your first friends in Leeuwarden; your new home. Of course we will also show you nightlife in Leeuwarden in parties organized especially for you.

Amsterdam
We visit a big city. Usually Amsterdam, since Amsterdam is our world-famous capital we are proud to show you around the city. But sometimes Den Haag (political capital) or Utrecht. We will take part in a city tour that will show you the hot spots, but also some places you would never find on your own. We will spend the night in a youth hostel, so we don’t have to go back to Leeuwarden early which means we can go out and have a blast together.

Cycling Dinner
The concept of cycling dinner is very easy: you’ll get a starter in one Dutch student house, a main course in another house and a dessert in a third house. In between the courses, we will have to make a cycling trip in order to get to the next house. The cycling dinner is an opportunity for you to get to see how Dutch students usually live. The cycling part is of course something really Dutch!

Dutch Dinner
We will prepare a typical Dutch dinner for you. Eventhough a typical Dutch household will serve dinner at 6PM, we will host our dinner a little later so we can go straight to a party afterwards.

Ameland
One of the highlights of the semester is our trip to one of the 5 beautiful Dutch islands – Ameland. We will leave on Friday in the afternoon and return Sunday afternoon. We will sing songs around the campfire on the beach, go wad-walking and do a little dance.

Queensday
During Queen’s day there are lots of different activities in Amsterdam. Usually every square hosts a different event, organized by for example a radio station or a TV-station. Also, lots of Amsterdam bars and clubs have their own parties in the streets. Many people dress in orange and the streets of Amsterdam are one big party-place.

Liberation Day
On May 5th 1945 the German occupation of the Netherlands during the Second World War was ended by the Allied forces. It is Dutch tradition to commemorate freedom and own responsibilities by organizing 13 free open-air festivals in 13 different cities in the Netherlands. Every year, the festival has a different theme.

Friesland Tour
In order to see some of Friesland we organized a Friesland tour. We will rent mini-van(s) for the day and tour trough the province with various stops where we will show you some nice spots.

Potluck Dinner
Everyone brings food from their home country – this can be a starter, main course, dessert or whatever you like! These dinners are a nice way to get to know more about each other’s eating habits.

Boat Tour
We will go to Workum where we will board two small boats. With these boats we are going to sail across one of the famous Frisian Lakes. In the afternoon, we are going to find ourselves a nice spot on the banks of the lake to have a BBQ.
