Frisian language related videos

Leeuwarden is the capital of the province of Friesland. Friesland is a unique province in the Netherlands, because it’s the only province with an official language: Frisian. Frisian is the official and only second language of the Netherlands. There are many dialects in Frisian and one of them is the very typical dialect of Leeuwarden: “Liwwadders”. Of course there are lots of artists who are really proud of their language (or their city) and therefore there are many songs in Frisian and in Liwwadders. Here’s a selection of some funny or nice songs in the Frisian language or the “Liwwadders” dialect:

Aart Lus & Ed Lip -- Ik Bin Su Eil

Two idiots who dedicated their lifes to making “dialectro”; elektro music in Leeuwarden dialect. Ik Bin Su Eil goes something like: “I am so orny, I can’t say the H anymore”…

Aart Lus & Ed Lip -- Mien Peuk’n

The latest Dialectro song. Lyrics: “Goddamn have you seen my sigarettes? Or did I loose them while having sex maybe?”

It’s the symbol for total failure, but don’t think I’d want to tear it down”

Pigmeat -- Herman moest naar Brada

Song in Liwwadders about a bull (Herman) who has to go to the local slaughterhouse Brada: “Herman had to go to Brada, but Herman didn’t feel like it, Herman thought I’m stopping it I’m not agreeing” So he decides to go to India by train.

Ferbean -- Lik op stik

A Frisian song about a guy who is pissing on his way home when he gets pulled-over by the police, he gets a € 50,- fine but he doesn’t agree: “It cost me a fortune all the beer that’s in my bladder and now I have to pay again to empty it? Man, don’t be an idiot! I pee when I have to pee, that’s what my mother teached me. In my pants there’s a zipper and that’s there for a reason!”
